Eating in Style

I have had our dining room table since I left home for college. It made it's way to several apartments and now to our home... in our garage, for my friend to take.

We just bought our first official dining room set from Crate & Barrel. On sale, it still had a pretty hefty price tag, had a bit of sticker shock when they rang me up at the counter. It is an investment piece, I keep telling myself. A table that is beautifully made, with a good color and classic lines. I am going to have fun mixing up the table settings.

I want to make a runner similar to this lovely from Emerson Made.

We bought the Aspen Dishes from C&B

Joined with Clark flatware, also from C&B.

I'm also really into these items from West Elm:

I excited to finally make a home cooked meal for our family and friends and dine in style.

Bamboo

I found a bamboo dresser on Craiglist that I'll be picking up tomorrow. It's my first DIY project for the new house. I'm really excited to get started. I will be posting an after picture when I'm finished.

Inspiration for the dresser originally came from Sarah Richardson. I'm a big fan of her HGTV show Sarah's House. In the second season, she completed a guest bedroom that I loved. Well, I love pretty much everything she does, but this room was spectacular.

I found a few other great bamboo pieces I loved as well...

This dresser is the exact make of the one I'm purchasing. I love the persimmon color, but not for our home.

The Roof Above Us. Est. September 2010

Hello!

This is our little home blog. We're first time buyers in the Twin Cities area. Anwar is the hubs, and I'm the wife. My name is Smo, or Stephanie. Either works for me.

We bought our home in September, 2010. We were looking for a house with character, and that is exactly what we got.

The blog title is based on the Irish blessing - May the roof above us never fall in, and may we good companions beneath it never fall out.

Not sure what else to put for the intro post, so that will have to do.
